The Lurie Cancer Center, partnering with MOLA (Medical Organization for Latino Advancement) is pleased to present an enlightening and impactful gathering aimed at addressing critical issues surrounding cancer disparities experienced by the LHS+ community, and fostering education, awareness, and collaboration. This academic event aims to connect practicing physicians, researchers, other cancer services providing professionals and students while featuring presentations focusing on cancer disparities.

TARGET AUDIENCE

LHS+ and Latino/a/e affirming health professionals, practicing MDs in primary care and several specialties, faculty, residents, researchers, and students.

OBJECTIVES
  • Understanding Disparities: Recognizing and understanding the disparities faced by the LHS+ community in cancer care, with a focus on access to novel treatments and clinical trials.
  • Proposing Solutions: Identifying and proposing best practices to address equity and improve health outcomes through innovative approaches.
  • Leveraging Community: Harnessing the unique skills, experiences, and assets of the LHS+ community, including multilingualism and cultural diversity, to overcome structural barriers and improve cancer care outcomes.
  • Increasing Representation: Advocating for increased representation of LHS+ individuals in healthcare, research, and educational careers to promote better health outcomes for the LHS+ population
