In alignment with MOLA’s mission, the General Manager serves as the organization’s General Manager and operational lead. This role is responsible for overseeing MOLA’s day-to-day operations, coordinating program execution across divisions, and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities set by the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
The General Manager works under the direction of the Executive Committee and MOLA Leadership and collaborates closely with the Administrative Fellow. The role provides operational oversight across Academic Pathways initiatives while supporting cross-divisional coordination in communications, grant development, and organizational systems.
This position is designed for a detail-oriented, strategic, and execution-focused professional seeking to build expertise in nonprofit management, health administration, public health leadership, and professional medical associations.
General Manager Objectives:
- Lead and manage MOLA’s day-to-day organizational operations.

- Plan, coordinate and support logistically the execution of all Academic Pathways programs, projects, committees and research initiatives.
- Contribute to grant proposals with programmatic narratives and budgets and effectively lead awarded grants.
- Gain and apply in-depth understanding of the healthcare professional and public health non-profit organizational landscape, including scope, structure, and objectives.
- Ensure operational integration of projects into broader organizational goals.
- Provide leadership in a professional healthcare nonprofit setting and support sustainable organizational growth.
Scope:
MOLA’s organizational structure includes Academic Pathways and Leadership and Administrative Pathways. The General Manager provides operational coordination across divisions, with primary oversight of programmatic development and execution.
The General Manager works directly with the President, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors. The role includes supervision and structured collaboration with the Administrative Fellow to ensure alignment across communications, finance, membership engagement, and development efforts.
Responsibilities include strategic planning support, operational execution, committee coordination, grant research and management, event planning, reporting, data management, communications leadership, outreach, and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities:

- Managing MOLA’s day-to-day operations and ensuring timely execution of organizational priorities.

- Supporting and coordinating the scholarship application, awarding and management process.
- Identifying and researching grant opportunities aligned with MOLA’s strategic goals.

- Managing and overseeing MOLA’s annual Latino (LHS+) Health Conference and other educational and academic events.
- Scheduling co-leading and facilitating monthly committee meetings, including coordination with all academic pathways committees’ co-chairs.
- Attending Board of Directors meetings to provide updates on all programs and initiatives and their progress.
- Building and managing MOLA’s Annual Outcomes Report and monthly newsletters.
- Supervising and collaborating with the Administrative Fellow to ensure operational cohesion between programmatic and administrative functions.

- Work closely with the committee chairs, organizing educational events and programs. The role will involve coordinating logistics, managing event timelines, and ensuring seamless communication with all stakeholders.
- Facilitate and coordinate MOLA’s Mentorship Program and MOLA-Michael Reese Foundation Scholars Program, leading the engagement and recruiting mentors and mentees, overseeing the program’s operation, matching mentors and mentees effectively, fostering a supportive environment for professional development and supporting the subcommittees.
- Designing and implementing evaluation tools, surveys, and reporting systems to track outcomes, improve programs, and meet grant deliverables.
- Supervising and collaborating with the Administrative Fellow to ensure operational cohesion between programmatic and administrative functions.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required (Public Health, Health Administration or any science, program management and health education management related field)
- Masters Degree preferred but not required
- Two years of professional experience or, in lieu of experience, a Master degree in fields such as project management, education management, volunteer management, academic or health management, equity, social justice and or diversity and inclusion
- Personal alignment with MOLA’s mission
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to leadComfortable leading group meetings and presentations.
- Bilingual Spanish-English
Location and schedule:
Full time 40 hours a week remote with preference of residency in Chicago land IL. Meetings and reporting take place in diverse locations. Approximately at least 80% of the work is remote, with 20% in-person attendance at events and meetings in Chicago. MOLA’s Annual Latinx Health Conference and Board of Directors annual meeting are located in Chicago. 40 hours a week with a flexible schedule. Most meetings happen early to late evenings and Saturdays. Most Board of Directors meetings are held remotely on third Saturday of the month.
Compensation
- Annual salary: $55,000 – $60,000.00
