MOLA’s President, Dr. Pilar Ortega, spoke on a Latinx Leadership Panel discussing a health equity-minded approach in support of Latinx professional advancement and Latinx health during Hispanic Heritage Month at the American Medical Association. This is part of a larger effort to promote health equity considerations in organized medicine and to build collaborations and partnerships among organizations. Dr. Aletha Maybank, AMA’s new Chief Health Equity Officer moderated the panel, which also included Elena Ríos, MD from the National Hispanic Medical Association and Linda Tortolero, JD from Mujeres Latinas en Acción.
