MOLA’S RISING STAR OF THE MONTH

Sofia Angel

Sofia is a second-year medical student at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She earned her B.S in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Johns Hopkins and spent her gap year working as a medical assistant at Yoon Dermatology in Missouri. At Prizker, Sofia is involved in efforts and initiatives aimed at advancing equity and representation. She serves as a class representative for the identity and inclusion committee, is Vice President of the Latino Medical Student Association, Volunteer Coordinator for the Community Health Free Clinic, and Advocacy Community Outreach Chair for the Dermatology Interest Group. She also works with organizations such as the Comprehensive Cancer Center and Lucero to provide resources to families and to aid in mentoring pre-medical students. Her research examines the intersection of melanoma and reproductive health, with an emphasis on patient-centered care and reducing outcome disparities. Sofia’s incredible leadership, along with that of the LMSA Pritzker team, was instrumental in making our Cardiometabolic and Renal Symposium a success!
