MOLA’s Academic Pathways – September 2nd

Join us for our next Academic Pathway Workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd at 6P CT with Dr. Emma Olivera who will be presenting on “GLOBAL HEALTH: The gift of smiles miles away from home.”

Children in low-income settings suffer from preventable and treatable conditions, including congenital anomalies like cleft lip and palate (CLP). In this talk, Dr. Olivera will explore CLP as a global health challenge, with a focus on Bolivia, and the vital role of pediatrics in advancing health equity worldwide.

Dr. Emma Olivera is a proud native of the city of Chicago. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and completed her medical school education at UIC College of Medicine – Rockford campus.  Dr. Olivera graduated from pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. She is currently working as a general pediatrician in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and is part of MOLA’s Board of Directors as well as serves as the Chicago Chapter Co-Chair for the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) and as a National Physician Advisor for the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA).
