What is the internship? 

Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine is looking for a volunteer intern to join our research team in conducting various research projects in the Department of Medical Social Sciences. The studies the intern would be assisting with primarily focus on various psychosocial facets of both Latinx and non Latinx cancer survivors’ experiences, in order to reduce disparities in cancer outcomes and improve treatment self-management following cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Position Responsibilities

This intern would assist with various tasks in support of multiple studies with cancer patients. Some of the tasks include reviewing patient records, screening, recruiting, consenting and completing assessments with patients both in English and Spanish, managing and aiding in the analysis of data, translating study materials into Spanish, and aiding in the development and implementation of an eHealth intervention.

What are the requirements to apply? 

Interested students would need to commit to coming into the lab for two to three days per week (12 hours weekly) for a year. Spoken and written fluency in Spanish is required. Having research experience and psychological, social and/or medical interests is strongly preferred. Students could also benefit from receiving academic credit from their internship.

What is the position? 

The Infant Welfare Society of Chicago (IWS), a comprehensive, community-based health center in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood, is seeking an Family Practice Physician, to join its Primary Care Team.

Position Responsibilities 

•Manage primary, acute and chronic health problems affecting women through comprehensive history and physical examination, assessment and diagnostics in outpatient setting

•Order, perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures

•Management of full spectrum of contraception 

•Prescribe pharmacologic and non –pharmacologic interventions

•Collaborate and coordinate with the primary care team to deliver evidence-based care and to establish best practices in clinical care

What is the position? 

This position provides an ideal life-work balance, with clinics limited to Monday through Friday and no assigned call or hospital duties. The practice is located within the city and provides a great location for anyone hoping to live and work in the city or live in a nearby suburb, with commutes facilitated by its proximity to I-290. The patients served are primarily Spanish and Polish speaking and all staff is bilingual to facilitate communication. As the group has consisted of providers and patients that have been with the clinic for many years, we are hoping to find a provider that works well with our team and is passionate about providing great care to a wonderful base of patients.

Location: West Loop neighborhood, Chicago

Schedule: Outpatient only, Monday-Friday 10-6pm
