Compensation (Based on experience and qualifications): 

$153,700- $198,000

The COO is responsible for leading the overall operations of Esperanza Health Centers. In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, the COO ensures the provision of the highest quality of clinical care to Esperanza’s patients.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Strategy, Vision and Leadership

  • Works with the CEO and executive team members to successfully implement the strategic plan, ensuring that Esperanza meets all long term and interim goals of its plan to create a healthier community.
  • Inspires operational excellence through ensuring patient access and orderly functioning of all clinical sites.
  • Serves as a quality champion and strategizes with the Director of Quality and collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer on quality improvement initiatives to ensure that Esperanza meets its goal of serving as a national quality leader in clinical care.
  • Supports business development opportunities, including implementing new systems of care that are innovative and/or proven models of care that are essential in achieving Esperanza’s ambitious quality and operational goals.
  • Provides analytical support to finance team including planning, coordinating, and executing the annual budget process.
  • Approaches work through a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens and creates systems and solutions that foster a learning culture at the organization.

Team Development/Leadership

  • Oversees and promotes team-based care by integrating care management, care coordination and community health work into the team-based model, ensuring that staff have the support they need to drive patient outcomes.
  • Coaches and develops staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
Operations
  • Directs risk management activities and mitigates risk through oversight of policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective care is provided to all Esperanza patients, staff and visitors.
  • Supervises the Director of Facilities to ensure a safe and welcoming environment at all locations.
  • Oversees patient access services including the call center, and alternative means of patient communication, including the patient portal and texting platforms. Ensures that these systems are constantly improved to stay at the forefront of patient engagement practices.
Clinical leadership
  • Provides strategic direction and supervision of the departments of care coordination and care management.
  • Serves as a key collaborator with the CMO in meeting the organization’s value-based care objectives.
  • Works with the CMO on clinical team design to create clinical teams that encourage collaborative care in pursuit of the Triple Aim.
Other Duties And Requirements
  • Substantial executive and leadership experience of at least 7 years in a diverse, non-profit health care organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of communications and relationship -building methodologies.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding healthcare and nonprofit agencies.
  • Skill ed in writing, public speaking and presenting information to diverse groups of constituents.
  • Skilled in identifying and managing highly sensitive issues.
  • Skilled in effectively managing media relationships.

Requirements
  • MPH, MBA, MPA preferred not required.
  • Experience supervising Director level roles.
  • Substantial executive and leadership experience of at least 7 years in a diverse, non-profit health care organization.

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding healthcare and nonprofit agencies.

  • Spanish Language fluency preferred.
